Nick Brown
Nick Brown painting at Miramar's Sunday Jump.Nick Brown was born on August 18th, 1982 in Modesto, California. He grew up in the small farming town of Hughson just outside the Modesto city limits. At an early age he was introduced to the arts by his grandma, who educated him not only on the theories of color and shadow, but most importantly, how to appreciate the simple joys of creating art. Raised on an almond orchard, Nick grew up like many other Hughson kids, with scratches on his elbows and irrigation water in his ears. In the open skies of the country and the freedom that exists in painting, a passion was born that Nick had no choice but to pursue.
Soon after his introduction to the arts, Nick started playing sports. In the small farming communities that stretch across California’s Central Valley, where football is a staple to any young man’s diet, Hughson was no different. Following not only football, but art, Nick pursued both vigorously through high school, junior college, and The University of Redlands. At Redlands, Nick majored in Fine Art, emphasizing in drawing and painting. There he studied under Professor Ben Bridgers, a working painter and professor, who significantly influenced his work ethic and direction as an artist. Equipped with a newfound voice in his work, Nick graduated with a style packed with strong symbolism pulled from life experiences, family, friends, and the natural beauty that surrounds all of us. From graduation to present day, Nick has continued to follow his love for the arts with the same fury as when he was little. From graphic design to art exhibitions, he is persistent in his search for knowledge within a profession that is as rewarding to the eye is as it is to the soul.
Nick would like to send out a huge thank you to his parents, Dan and Cindy Brown, as well as the entire Brown family, without whose unwavering support he would never have had the ability to pursue his art.
