"From the time I was an early age, my brother and I would draw pictures with my grandmother, who is a painter. As I matured as an artist, I was drawn to representing or illustrating emotional thoughts. Emotion, the mental state that people experience everyday is what initiates me to create my illustrations. My drawings are
Vince Brown at the Miramar Gallery always my number one focus in my work; it is what initiates me to do what I do because I know that I can always improve in my work. It is a motivating feeling to see my hand drawn sketches transferred into a digital piece of art or onto a canvas; working on the computer or putting the final brush strokes on a painting feels like the icing on the cake when everything is all said and done. Having my own illustrations/drawings in my work glorifies the outcome of a finished piece of art in my mind, because it embodies the notion that I can separate my work from everyone else. There are atmospheric memories that crystallize in my minds eye; I’ve attempted to make visible these invisible memories. Representing the invisible in my artwork is why I do what I do, because it exposes the feelings and emotions that I have imagined in my mind."
